SR20DET.. Sentra or 240SX?

Well this summer, I should hopefully have enough $$$ to buy a new engine and an used car in cash.
1.) 1994 Nissan Sentra SE-R
or
2.) 1995 Nissan 240SX

Now... either way, I will buy a new engine... hopefully a BlueBird or GTiR...... but...
Which car would be better to put it in?
RWD... SR20DET driven 240sx?
or
FWD.. SR20DET driven Sentra SE-R?

What you guys suggest??

I guess you know that the BB DET and GTI-R DETs wont work in a 240. You would have to get an S13 or S14 RWD DET.

If money is a big issue, most (if not all) of the places Ive looked at the BB DET is about the same price as the S13 DET. BB DETs are usually a few hundred cheaper. The S14 is much more expensive. The GTI-R DET is usually about the same as the S14's.

I would personally rather put it into an SE-R but they are much harder to find (at least in KY) than the 240.

really depends on what you prefer, rear wheel drive or front. consider the 240 sx will look more intimidating before a race too to your competition, while the SE-R will be the sleeper....for the $$ of a 1995 240 sx, you could also do a 1995 or 1996 200 sx SE-R if you want a look somewhere in between. its all your own personal prefence though.

Yeh I was gonna get a SR20DET S13 .. Engine
or a BB or GTiR for the Sentra.

Well i have debated that... Sleepy vs. Aggressive.. and I still have no idea. The sentra would be a kick in the ass when racing... cuz it would be soo unexpected..
but the 240.. people expect more out of it.. and I dont have that much $$$

Hmm Sentra vs. 240SX....

i think you should go with the se-r due to the power to weight ratio
the sentra weighs 485 lbs less than the 240sx

More like 250lbs less.

We weighed my friend's 240SX at 2850lbs, and my SE-R at 2610lbs.

But you do have a point. An SE-R with a BB running stock boost will run DEEP into the 14's, whereas a 240SX with a DET is only in the mid-high 14 second range (stock S14 Silvias only run 14.9-15.1).

Still....high 14's is decently quick, and there is potential for more. Hell, I got dumb once when I was in Japan and raced a S13 Silvia with my Integra (a 1st gen with the ZC engine...129hp) and got smoked (and the Teg wasn't that much slower than my SE-R).

I'd get a 240.Rear wheel drive is more controllable with any decent amount of power. While some will argue that the Sentra is lighter, and the 240's driveline has more parasitic loss, the 240 will not suffer from the torque steer and heavy understeer that a front driver will have if you start making serious power. When you take off in any car, weight transfers off of the front wheels and on to the rear, giving the 240 a decided traction advantage over the Sentra.Of course,if you're adventuresome, and handy with a Sawzall and Mig welder you could try my idea and have the best of both worlds-build a AWD Sentra!

I would want a 240SX just for RWD and an agressive look
I would get an B13 SE-R for sleeper looks and the same power as an 240SX

(If I could afford a RWD conversion on a Sentra... and a sweet body kit.... I would get a Sentra)

I dont know what the hell I want....
since I live in Colorado.. i think FWD would be better... but hell it doesnt snow everyday

Yeah, I would upgrade the 240.

1. Power to weight ratio is better because of rear wheel drive.

2. Wont have to replace half shafts or CV boots if they break(and that's a real pain in the ass!)

I want to upgrade my B13 Sentra XE with an SR20DET, later down the road, but i'm going for a sleeper effect for that car because I want to keep the exterior stock except I would replace the bumper with an SE-R bumper and no side skirts or airplane wings or any of that shit.

I plan to have a 240SX as a fun performance car and my Sentra as a better-then-stock daily driver.

GO WITH THE 240!!

If you go turbo with the sentra/200sx you will be real sorry didnt go with the 240 when your transmission breaks gears on a regular basis.

The 240 drive train is much much stronger, so overall the 240 will be more reliable and cost less

GO FOR THE SENTRA--People have seen 240's and know that some of them aren't to be messed with---how many SE-R's are around pumping over 200 horse? if you get enough to it---you could piss off the owner of an EVO if you could keep traction. LoL
Sleep the B13......piss off a Honda
