How to remove starter motor on NX2000

Hello,

I am a newbie here and this is my first post. Searching for some help on the internet and ran into this forum!! Hope to also be able to contribute!! Here's my question:

I have a '93 Nx2000. Starter motor needs to be replaced. I have the factory service manual and all it states is to remove mounting bolts and some cables. The location of the starter makes it very difficult to have full access and I cannot seem to find a way to access the mounting bolts. What other components are required for easier access to the starter motor mounting bolts? Thanks in advance!!

Remove your factory intake piping, use and extension and you should be able to get to it easily by then. Mark your small vaccuum lines and the larger are easier to remember where they go. There are 2 electrical connections to the starter that are more easily removed once the starter is serperated.

Hope that helps.

top, very easy, the starter is unbolted from topside as well, all cable disconnections and actual removal is from the bottom.

Though, replacing can be done from the bottom as well, you just need to have wirey arms and hand thread the bolts to hold the starter in place until you get topside.

Thanks again Phast!! As you can tell I'm not very mechanically-inclined. Is it possible for you to list step by step how to do this? Or maybe describe what to look for when I'm looking at the engine from the top?

I'm looking at the engine and was thinking ' uhm, where is the intake pipe?' I have the service manual ...is the intake pipe part of the intake manifold? I'm trying to use the svc manual as reference but it doesn't mention an 'intake pipe'.

I'll get a picture this weekend, but the intake pipe is the black plastic/rubber 3" in diameter coming from the airbox, the airbox is where you put your air filter. Use a hayne's or chiltons they give illustrations.

Before I discovered forums, EVERYTHING I initially came to know about motors was through those books. Knowledge is power. The pen is mightier than the sword, etc.....Read the book and you will figure it out.

But I will still take a pic of my ghetto motor for all to see for you.

Yo Phast!! Thanks dude. Just removed the starter tonight!! I was almost sure what the intake was but wasn't sure. Referencing the service manual helped as advised. Thanks dude!!!

...now I gotta see where I can find a good deal on a starter...

Junkyards, love 'em, need 'em, gotta have 'em. Like a kid in a candy store at a "pick n pull". Self sevice junk yard.

I am sure glad you bailed me out of posting a pic of my engine bay, I just finished a swap last weekend and I have crap everywhere. My homemade ram air bracket broke and.....well I would have been embarassed and would have gotten flamed for letting it look like that.

i recently had problems with my starter.the location of the starter made it seem hard to remove, but its actually pretty easy, anyways,
i didnt replace the starter ,what i did do was took the starter apart and cleaned it . if you are short on cash, i advise this.
