transmission swap

Ive got an automatic 97 200SX SE-R (sr20). What would need to be done to make this car manual? What new parts would I need to get, and where could I get it done? All of the information Ive found is mainly do-it-yourself jobs, which I dont picture myself doing quite yet. Do transmission shops offer full auto to stick conversions, and if so, about how much do they cost? Thanks.

All that I can think of off the top of head of what is needed:

flywheel
clutch
manuel tranny
shifter
shifter linkage
pedal
pedal brakets
cable for the pedal to tranny
shift stablizer
harnesses?

If you have a "pick n pull" (DIY junkyard) or something of the like, you can save big, that may mean multiple trips to the junk yard and alot of effort. Check the classifieds often, I may be posting a JDM tranny for sale pretty soon.

If you are having a shop do it, based on $50 an hour labor, no less than $1000 labor and I would like to think that is the highball.
But we did it in a friends 3rd gen civic a couple years back and it seemed like a bitch now that I think about it.

I know that if I am wrong or left something out someone will correct me with the switfness of an IRS seizure.

Good luck.

Are the gear ratio's different on a JDM compared to a USDM tranny?

What I hear is that they are shorter. But that is hear say, I have attempted to doing some research with no luck. I will look into and should I post it for sale I will note any "facts" that I find. I do know that this one has a "speedo cable" whereas my 93 NX has a "speedo sensor", looks interchangable, but I was impatient and decided to use my old one, since it hasn't given me any problems.

Here are some links:

This is all I could find for now, the 200sx is a newer model and may not be apples to apples.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yep...the 200SX in Australia is the same body as our 240SX and Japan's Silvia. Rear drive....totally different tranny.......

As for the ratio differences.......in Japan, some FWD models (Pulsar VZR is an example) end up with a different version of our tranny with shorter 1st (down to a 3.33 vs our 3.06) and 2nd (maybe 3rd) gears, and a 4.44 axle ratio (vs our 4.18). This lets them come out of the hole harder, but means that you drop more rpm off of each of the first couple of shifts.

I'd like to see our internal ratios matched to the 4.44 axle set and a SR16VE.........mmmmmm, high rpm POWER.
