I have a 2002 Nissian ser Spec V and I noticed that I've been losing oil at a fast rate. I don't have an external oil leak (no leaks on the drive way). I usually have to pour 1 qt a week and it's killing my wallet as I use syntectic oil.
What could be the problem? My car has been misfiring in cyclinder 3 and I've replaced the coil and still caused the misfiring? It does smell like burned oil..so the oil is getting burned but where?
Should I take in to the dealer to get it check out?
First of all...not sure what to tell you on the oil loss, secondly, you might be better off posting in the right section... You have a qr25, not an sr20 like this section is meant for.
bad piston rings. If it's still under warranty, I'd take it to the dealer. Also, you don't have to use synthetic in these cars. Synthetic oil only benefits very high horsepower cars.

Dude take for a compression test, pep boys and if #3 cylinder is low, go to the dealers to get a claim. has it ever overheated as it could be a blown head gasket. remove rad cap and see if it looks like oil is in there then you would know you got a blown gasket.
hey guy you dont have to have big power to use synthetic oils that total crap talk
thanks guys for the tips...I took it to the dealer, and they did a compression test on my car.
The reason why i'm losing oil at a fast rate is because the Catalytic converter is clogged.
I had to leave my car at the dealer and they told me they would have to replace the whole engine! Luckly for me, warrenty is going to cover my new engine. They said I already did some internal damage to the engine. Part of it was the piston ring, cyclinder, ect..
As for Synthetic oil, the dealer said it did no harm to my car and was ok to continue using the same oil.
