Question Nissan Sabre 200GXI (Simmilar to pulsar N14) fuel problem!!! Please help!

Hi there

I live in South Africa and am lucky to own a 1999 Nissan Sabre 200Gxi. If you dont know it, it is very simmilar to the Nissan pulsar N14 but a newer version. (changed grill and boot spoiler)

Any way. My problems is as follows. The Nissan 200Gxi or what ever! usually have a slight power band that kicks in at +-3000rpm mine when you put your foot flat is dead. then suddenly at +-5200rpm gets that burst of power.

I took it to a person who looked at it and did a test with me there of the fuel pressure. It showed 2 bar with the car running and then droping to 1.7bar as you reved the motor. My said the this was the fuel pump packing up!! i then took it someone else (the trader i bought the car from ) who said that there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump and that it probably just needs a dyno tune!

Has anyone ever had problems with thier fuel pump. Or is there something i am missing.????? Is there any thing i can try

Any way Thanks

These engines only start performing at +-5000rpm. This is what I've discovered. I've actually managed to rev my sabre on the limiter without breaking the engine. (impressive). These motors are strong.

I'd take it for a Dyno. Can't Lose!

cheers!!

Not fuel pressure

Ur car must tuned, check ur cam timing and distributer timing.IF it was fuel pressure u will hv no power right through the rev range.I wud kno i'm running an external pump, its 2.2l caravelle pump that i've fitted outside the tank.

I also own a 1999 nissan Sabre 200Gxi and experienced the same problem and it was even worse with the aircon switched on. I took it to the dealer varies times and they kept on telling me that nothing was wrong.

In an effort to get a better fuel consumption, I decided to install a UniChip. Then when workshop that fitted the Unichip told met that the Fuel Presure is not what it is suppose to be and that Fuel Pump is at fault, so I replaced it and since then the power was back and the problems when the Aircon is switched on is gone as well.
