Check light engine came on again!

My check light engine came on for the 2nd time within the past 4 months. It gave me the same error code. 0303 which is a Misfired of cylinder 3. I check the sparks plugs last time and it looked fine. Should I replace the coil?

I also noticed that when I start my car it starts out a litttle shakey before it idles smoothly. Could this be related to the coil or spark plugs? I'm very good about keeping up with oil changes and air fliter but at 70,000 I'm thinking I should bring my car in for a tune up. I usually don't have the money for tune ups but where should I take my car for a tune up?

Thanks

You could probably do the tune up yourself.. it doesnt take more then the basic tools. If you need more help with that just ask.

As for the missfire.. the first thing I did when mine kept coming up on Cyl 1 (still happening.. sadly its something really serious, but at this time I cant do anything about it and its not hendering the car from being safely driven) was switch the spark plugs between two of the cylinders. In my case Cyl 1 and 2 got swapped. As for the coil.. I wouldnt know how to test it but you could always ask a shop to do so, I doubt its too hard.

Dealerships are spendy, but independent shops can be risky, so I woud find one thats reputable, or you can just do it yourself, its not that hard, just change the oil, gear oil, fuel and air filter, pcv, cap, rotor, check your plug wires, that might be causing your miss, same with the cap and rotor, clean the throttle body, and run a bottle of top engine cleaner through a vacuum line that goes into the intake manifold, your car will run way better.

The problem could be the coil or the injector too

It would have to be coil pack ignition for it to be for that specific cylinder, if its just one coil for all plugs then its not the coil. Otherwise the issue is more than likely cap/rotor (has to be oem) which can be changed with a screw driver and while your at it you might aswell change the plugs which could also be a issue. Plugs would be the hardest of anything to do and even those are easy as you only need a spark plug socket which is just a deep socket wit ha rubber grommet inside and a extension with a wratchet. Im sure atleast one of your friends can lend you those 4 items to do a basic ignition tune up, good luck
