Hi, I put in a new K&n Filter cone filter charger kit, everything fit well. The problem is that I forgot to disconnect the battery before the install and now it runs for 15-20 secs then dies. I thought it was the MAF but a poster by the name of SE-R-57 asked if I disconnected the battery, I replied no but he never wrote back to inform me with his prognosis. Now I have to be at work and my car is laughing at me. Anyone else ever had this problem
it shouldnt be the battery, ive installed many intakes and have only once had to remove the battery but only to make the hole for the piping bigger. you may have a vacuum leak. does your car idle irratically before it dies? mine used to do that and if i warmed the car for like 30 seconds it would run fine. i just ended up raising the idle as a temporary fix.

I had the same thing happen to me today, we installed the cone filter and drove off. A quarter of a mile later the car just boged down and died. I tried restarting many many many times until the battery finally died. It turns over, but doesn not start. I checked all the vaccum hoses, there are no leaks, its not the fuel regulator or the fuel pump. When I first drove off I took off the air temp meter (stupid I know) and even after it was replaced the car will not start. please help, I need the car started ASAP, I deliver pizzas ha ha
Yeah, I'm about to put a ax through the block. I've tightened and re-tightened, left the battery cable off for hours, looked for vacum leaks, etc.. I smell fuel so I think it's a leak. I'm going to pull everything back off and check the whole assembly for leaks. Someone told me to spray carb cleaner around the hoses and if the engine revs than you found your leak.
after leaving the battery unhooked overnight, upon reinstalling the entire car was DEAD!! A new battery was put in after testing, and even with a brand new battery the car lights wouldn't even turn on, I have no clue what it is, I know its not any vaccum hoses, or any leaks, I dont smell fuel. I'm thinking its possible that something, or some part of the intake got sucked into the block, or the ECM is fried, Im stumped, post any advances, Im having the mechanic come to my house tomorrow to check it out, Ill let you know what he found
I thought I had problems! I drove mine to the mechanic last night, it wouldn't drive above 2400rpm in any gear so it was slow. I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like you have a electrical/ecu problem. Good luck!

Sorry I didn't get back to this post been kinda busy. The reason your car wont rev over 2400 is because the ECU is in limp mode. This happened when you took the plug outta the MAF without disconnecting the battery. Pull the codes on the ECU and I bet your gettin a MAF code. It'll be a 12 or 1 long and 2 short flashes of the lcd in the ECU. Just clear the codes and it should be fine. Go to www.se-r.net to find info on clearin the codes. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies, I pulled the ecu and it's flashing the maf code but how do you clear the codes? No matter what I do It keeps flashing that code. I think the MAF is alright because it was fine before hand, does anyone think that maybe I destroyed those filaments sensors on the maf though?
