EGR Valve malfunction.... CEL

I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but I'm new to this forum so I'm gonna ask.

96 200sx SE-R

I keep getting a CEL that will stay on for days and then go away for a while, and then come back. Actron says its an "EGR Malfunction", I forget what the code is.

What should I do? Replace the EGR? Clean it? New Hose?

I heard that this is a problem on 5spd 200sx SE-Rs because the hose going to the EGR valve is too wide and lets in too much air, and the solution is to get an 8 mm hose to replace the 10mm hose (that Nissan actually acknowleged and changed on their later models of this car.)

Where is the EGR Valve?? I've seen pictures of it being clearly visible behind the head, but in mine, there is just a bunch of hoses, and no "cup" shaped anything behind the head cover.

You will know the solution by using the search button. I've already helped you once in another thread you made, so this time, take the intiative to first search and then ask questions.

SE-R.net will have your solution. The EGR tube is too wide, letting too much exhaust in. They fixed that in later years, so all you need is a new EGR tube.

Does anyone have any pictures of a 200sx SE-R engine, and can point out where the EGR valve is? Or at least can someone explain it? The picture on SE-R.net is of a Sentra, and in the picture it shows the EGR right on top behind the head cover, but when I look at my engine, all I see is a bunch of hoses.

Is it in a different spot in the 200sx? Or is it possible that someone could have taken the EGR off completely before I bought it? (I recently bought it used)
