Changing the Timing on Stock SR20
I know this has been posted repeatedly.. I did a search for it and found How to, but its left me with more questions.
I have a 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R almost at 148K miles, everything stock.
First about putting it in Timing Mode. I have to warm up the car, then when Im ready Rev it past 3K three times, then disconnect the TPS, correct? And this whole time leave the car running?
Second about what to put it to. My mechanic did it for me before. It says on the sticker on the hood and acording to what it was running at.. stock is 10 degress. We set it to 13 and I want to now put it at 15. But from what I read stock should be 15 and it should run best at 19 with 91 octane (currently using 93). So now Im just all types of confused. Should I put it to 19 and continue to run 93, will that would give me the best gas milage and performance?
Also I have a missfire on Cyl 1, as far as we can tell its a bad injector, but it happens rarely. Ive had no problems with it so far, it doesnt seem to be causing any damage, but we have yet to pull out the injector to look at it. Weve checked everything else and thats all it seems it could be. With that being the case, would incressing the timing cause any more damage if Im still having the missfire?
