possibly buying a 200sx ser

i am thinking about buying a 95 200sx SER. It has 105000 miles on it a 5 spd black interior black paint. Havent looked at it yet but are the sr20 motors as reliable as the 1.6? are mods very expencive for this car? And most important how much should i pay for it? Will it be "alot" fast than my 92 1.6? Thanks alot guys for your help

Yeah its got 143 BHP and i think the 1.6 (GA16DE) has only got 110 BHP. The SR20 is alot faster and mods will not cost any more then on the GA16. I would def go for the SR20. They are reliable and id say as reliable as the GA16.

SR20DEs are extremely reliable. They were overengineered for N/A applications and can easily be boosted if you like. There are reports of these engines exceeding 300,000 miles. See www.SE-R.net and www.SR20DEForum.com

sr20s are great motors and dirt cheap to swap if your old one goes bad. Just change the oil at 3K and keep an eye on the oil level and you should have no problems.

Mods are more than abundant (for a Nissan anyway).

I dunno what the going rate is, but from a private party, I wouldn't pay much over $4500 for it. Prices may be way different on the east coast though.

Very reliable. Double check for rust, sounds like an east coast car. The upgrades to the engine are nice and reasonable.
