Question turning Ignition = notorious "CLICK"

I have had this problem before on my other car. I believe it was the starter. I dont want to pay 400 for parts and labor. I want to go to napa or autozone and pick one up ant throw it in my car. however i need to know where it is, how to do it and is there any recomended brand because i never want to hear that noise again.

Try a new battery FIRST!

Had this problem ofr a looong time. Turned key, there was NO SOUND from the fuel pump priming and thus I could hear the double CLICK-CLICK from the front right of the engine compartment.

Changed to a new battery and for some (?) reason it never happened again! No other change, just a new battery.

if your battery is worn or bad and has no charge, it cant power the starter properly causing it to click as the solenoid tries to engage. Sounds like the battery to me, so that is the first thing to check.

i have to agree with this. i helped a friend replace his starter and after doing that the car didnlt start. this idiot friend never bothered to clean/change his battery terminals. we cleaned em and guess what his car started. i was pissed i got all dirty for nothing, but it was still funny cause it was pretty much all on him. so checkl your terminals then your battery
