My son has a 98 200sx with the 2.0 engine. The starter doesn't release from the flywheel when cold. Works good in hot weather. How hard is the starter to change? I was told the transaxle had to be pulled.

No the transaxle does not need to be pulled.
But it is a bitch....
The starter is under the intake, I removed part way the brace that supports the intake manifold, I left one nut loose on upper right from under the car as I didn't think i could ever get it back on the stud if I removed it.

Download the b14 FSM, it may help.
It is in a sticky at the top of the B14 chassis section.
here you are, read this, http://www.nissanforums.com/showthre...er+replacement
Disconnenct the battery
unscrew the two bolts holding the starter
from underneath
unscrew the Y-pipe and press the exhaust sideways ( ore remove it after the flexpipe) to have more room
disconnect the signal cable
unscrew the power cable from the starter
when fitting it back on again it's good to have a helper. So you can put the starter in place and your helper sets the bolts.
