Question Advanced Timing

I've been reading up as much as possible on here and I've read some of you guys have "advanced timing."

Now me being mechanically deficient compared to most of you guys, would you mind explaining that and how its done? I know I've heard about it before, but I never bothered to ask.

Thanks in advance! I'm still looking for an SE-R... its starting to kill me!
