Well, first things first.
You need to learn how to drive your car first. This means getting a good launch, and learning where to shift. I've found that at the track, I get my best 60ft times (and 1/4 times) by getting the tires to hook up at 4600-4800rpm which puts you right at the top of the torque curve. This means the tires STOP spinning (hook-up) just shy of 5K. To get this on the street I normally dump the clutch at around 3500rpm, but this depends on what tires you have, how cold it is, and exactly how you release the clutch. My advice here: practice. Like I said, whatever method you use, just shoot for a hookup a little shy of 5K rpm. Remember, on our cars, wheelspin is NOT a bad thing as long as it's not too much (5K hookup).
Next is shifting. On a stock SR20DE you should wind 1st to 7500rpm, 2nd to 7300rpm, 3rd to 7100rpm and if you get that high, 4th to 7K (but you'll need nearly a mile to get to this speed....@112mph). These are dyno proven shift points for a *stock* SE-R in good condition.
Finally, if you want to do free tricks like timing, go to
www.se-r.net and look around. Everything you need is right there.
As for the little Lancer shitbox.......don't worry. If you learn how to drive you'll spank him. They are only good for mid 16 second 1/4's at best, which means you should be able to pull at LEAST 5-6 cars on him in the 1/4 (IF...you drive it right). As for him keeping up for 200ft.......well duh....you don't have a chance to put very much distance on someone that quick unless you car is AWD.
BTW......OZ Lancers only weigh around 150lbs more than an SE-R....not 1000.
Like I said...practice, and learn.
