Michael Vick...

is THE single most over-rated player in the National Football League.

sure some of the shit he does is impressive, but his numbers are always lackluster... he is garbage.

he may not be a great fantasy player but he gets the job done. just like brady or roethlisberger. the most important thing is winning games not putting up huge numbers for fantasy football players to drool over. vick is a good quarterback, just not a good fantasy one

Which is kind of amazing seeing that he gets extra points for rushing yards...

By the way...I have him on my NF fantasy team/bench....want him? lol

Vick is the kind of player who makes his team better. Being such a threat with his speed and ability to pass, he makes the play action work alot better and is constantly getting away from defenders and making big plays. In that sense, he's not always going to put up the best numbers but he is a great athlete.

There is a big buzz about him on talk radio down here. Half of the people say that he is an awful quarterback and should any team shut down the run, the Falcons are doomed. The others say that he wins over 2/3's of his games that he starts and that we shouldn't worry about his stats.

I personally think they should make him a WR or RB and let Matt Shaub come in for one game and see what happens. He really sucks as a passing QB.

I've thought about that but he doesn't have the build for that. I just couldn't picture him going across the middle for a pass with a safety ready to drill him or through the middle with a linebacker waiting for him. Maybe every now and then just send him on a deep pattern or toss to the outisde but he could never be a full time HB or WR unless he worked on it first.

Vick is Kordell Stewart II. And where did that guy end up....? Holding a clipboard in Baltimore...

What is saving Vick's ass right now is that Dunn is having such a great year. Its tough for a defense to contain Vick when Dunn is racking up 100+ yd games. Plus, the Falcons have an easy schedule this year. Their 5-2 record is deceiving...

Yes, this guy can make plays. Yes, he has a cannon for an arm. Yes, he is exciting to watch on the field. But he is not a great QB. He inaccuracy and poor decision making will catch up with him. 5 years into the league and he has not abandoned the "run-first" mentality. I don't think he ever will. He'll suffer the same fate as Stewart, he'll be replaced by a more complete QB. I just hope he isn't sent to the L.A. expansion team we're supposed to get

I'm actually glad that he said the only place he wouldn't play is in Philly.

I don't know if I would say that the schedule has been easy...the Seattle loss they almost came back after a miserable first half and they should have had the Pats beat, just one of those games that was up in the air.

W-Philly- Top team in the NFC last year, still one of the top 5 in the NFL
L-Seattle- Easily one of the top 2 or 3 in the NFC this year, maybe the NFL
W-Buffalo- Jeckle and Hyde team this year
W-Minnesota- Same as Buffalo
L-New England- One of the top 5 teams, even though the record doesn't indicate it, debatable I know, but still won the Super Bowl last year
W-New Orleans- Flashes of brilliance, but not many
W-New York- Middle of the road team

With the exception of New Orleans, there isn't a real cupcake on that schedule. The did make it to the NFC championship last year which dictates that they get one of the top 5 most difficult schedules this year. Granted a lot of those teams aren't living up to expectation, they still have the caliber of making the playoffs. (Jets, Philly, Seattle, Minn, NE all making it last year, the Bills just missing it)

As far as Vick, he doesn't exactly have the WR corp or a line (none are higher than 6th round draft pick) to help him out, so some of the mistakes he makes are accentuated. If you look at what he did in the Pro Bowl last year, he picked the AFC def apart. Granted they didn't blitz that much and he had all-stars around him, he had a much better showing that some more highly touted QB's from years past have had.

Corrected

I think anyone who isn't worried about Vick when their team plays Atlanta is a dumbass. Sure I knew the Pats were going to win, but I was still worried (before it became a non-issue). Besides, he's fun to watch.

You can't have Brady, I already got him. Oh wait, that's in my league, nevermind.

I agree with the Seattle, Philly, and New England assessments. I honestly believe the only reason the New England game was so close is because Vick was not playing. First time the an Atl QB passed for over 170 yards this year. And if Vick stays healthy, probably the only time. I know Belichick would have come up with something to contain Vick on defense....

Buffalo, Minnesota, New Orleans, and the Jets suck.
