Its a 3 hour drive, but... I had a 79 280ZX and even after replacing the ENTIRE fuel injector system.. every sensor, adjusting the valves, and running 'Sure Pass', it still failed. A shop in Redding called Able Smog (530)242-6556 got it to pass. They spent a good hour and a half with my and that car adjusting it to the point that it barely ran sputtering and shaking, but it read clean on the machine shoved up the tailpipe. He then did the formal test, and retuned everything to where I had it. It ran good for a while until the timing chain started slapping the cover because it was so loose. I had to trade it off for an 83 Z28 on rims (oh twist my arm). The highlight of that 280ZX was filling up with gas in Redding, hitting I-5 and not getting another dime in gas until I reached Newbury Park (near Malibu) with a whopping 594 miles on the tripometer!!!!!! I averaged 75 or 80 MPH and stopped only once (in Lodi coincidentally) at Flag city for a burger.
Good luck to you!!
