2005 SERCA Convention

Yep, it'll be in Texas again. As with all Conventions in the past, the date hinges upon the day we can get a track.

I'm shooting for Texas World Speedway. Due to relatively high cost, we'll have to entertain the concept of sharing our track day with another group. The big 2.9-mile layout will allow a good 30 cars at a time on the track. I was figuring we need 80 people signed up to keep this reasonable (< $125 ea).

Vote in the poll for your preferred track day if you intend to sign up.

Sounds like fun, but I don't have enough track experience to attempt. But I can't wait for the convention.

Jus a quick Q. I'm looking into buying a helmet for AutoX events (the ones they give u are nasty). Since I may attempt the track events in the future, what is the minimum required full-faced helmet used in these events?

Most track events require a Snell95. You can't buy new anything less than Snell 2000. If you can wait, Snell 2005 helmets will be out soon and they'll be good for at least ten years.

As for your track capabilities, all you need is a helmet and a stree-legal car. This is no competition, drive as slow as you need.

oh, that sounds pretty good. I'll have to see if I'm good to do it or not. I jus got new potenzas, but I know they'll prolly be mostly worn out by the event. I'll keep up with this on SR20 forum, I'm sure there's alot more discussion on there.
