Cool HONING cylinder

What is the proper way to hone a cylinder if you replace the piston rings? I have read someware that cross hatching at a 45 degree angle is best and if so how would you obtain this angle/cross hatching?

If you've never done it before, you'll have to experiment a bit. As you're operating the hone, move it up and down the cylinder slowly. Don't overdo it. Take a look at the cylinder and see how the cross hatching looks like. Use plenty of cutting oil.
