Exhaust Opinions and Engine Questions

First for the Exhausts...i've found for around 425 bucks, HKS and Invidia catbacks. How do they compare to the likes of Apexi, GReddy and RS*R? Now for the engine question. Finding a decent KA24DE from a 240sx is hard especially when you need to find a 97+ engine. Will a KA from the Altima fit and work properly in the bay of a 240? I plan to rebuild the engine, but I can' have the vehicle down for weeks at a time.

wouldn't the difference in the exhaust just be with the headers? the engine still turns 90 degrees in the bay. are there any exchangable parts between the Altima KA and the 240 KA?

Exchangable parts as in block, head, ???. or just the exhaust? with the altima FWD, i don't think the exhaust parts are the same as the as a 240. don't have to go around the drive shaft ya know.

no, most altima KA parts will not fit the RWD KA.

yeah, the older KA will work...but the '97 has an OBD-II ECU.

so the older one's are just OBD-I, and what are the missing sensors going to do? I don't know most likely send you codes.

and yes the altima will fit the 240...but the manifolds are just pointing in the wrong place, and the water lines are wrong.

The OBD-II is in the electronics not in the head/block. By installing a 91 block, for instance, into a 97 car, the OBD-II electronics will continue to function normally. The important thing to remember is to use the 97 components such as the ECU, engine harness, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold.
