RPM Idle problem

For some reason after I put the silencer on my exhaust my car no longer idles very well. When I deccelerate the rpms drop too low and my car almost dies. When im just at a stand still the rpm's dont level out, they move anywhere between 300-800 just going up and down.

Is this the timing? What can I do to fix this?

When it finally levels out......EVENTUALLY it idles at 800rpms. So I dont think adjusting the idle is the problem

Mine does the exact same thing. My buddy's integra did it a while back, he tracked it down to a cold air sensor just down from the throttle body, I haven't had a chance to get mine looked at... I just keep the A/C cranked (not a big deal, already hit 95 yesterday) and it keeps enough of a load on the engine to keep it idling properly.

Actually turning on the A/C doesn't make a difference on mine. Well it does, when it goes down the rpm my car dies. Thats the only difference. =\

What I dont get is that it will idle normally and then all of a sudden goes up and down.

Why don't you remove the silencer as a test to see if the problem goes away; if the problem goes away, then the silencer may be introducing a sizable amount of back pressure.

If the problem doesn't go away, then the silencer is not related to the problem; the problem could be due to the following:

1 - Dirty fuel injectors.
2 - Dirty air filter.
3 - TPS harness connector.
4 - Dirty IAA valve.
