well, the apexi is a bit big for an NA application, but hotshot makes a cai for the ka i beleive, as well as headers, then i would look for a 2.5" catback for it.

I'm pretty fond of my Injen intake. It sounds really nice at open throttle, and it gives pretty good power. As for the exhaust, I would personally go out, buy the type of muffler you want, go to an exhaust shop, and have custom 2.5" piping bent. That'll save you a good 200-300 bucks over the apexi.

I guess it depends on what style you're looking for and how much you want to spend. All the big brand are pretty damn good.. i.e. APEX. Blitz, HKS, Buddy Club...etc. They all cost around 550+, but if you want something cheaper and more sleeper style, I recomand VRS Exhaust. Its good quality piping and the exhaust is not quite a coffee can size, but more like a sport tune. I think they come in 2.25 2.5 and 3 in size. For intake like said above Injen and AEM...can't go wrong with them...you could prolly even do the ebay junk (it may not fit perfectly, but it will work) nor an NA application it can't be more then 2-5HP gain, but it will make your car "sound" faster...
if you have the $$$ go with CIA...looks better, prolly performs better. If thats all the mod you're gonna do, any of the catback mention above will do. Just depends on how much money you want to spend and what style of muffler you like. BTW VRS exhaust is a cat back also.
well, you're not really going to see more than 12hp with a cai and exhaust, it will make it sound better definately, but i would just get a ram air intake from injen, it has a pretty good reputation, infact, i think im going to get one myself. but you might want to get a cheap exhaust unless you're going to turbo it, thats when the extra air flow is needed.

Yeah, honestly don't waste your money on the cold air extension, it's not worth it for the little bit of gain you get (and actually from what I hear, the cai and the shortram are pretty much the same in gain). The short ram will do you just fine. And as for the replacement filters for the after market intake. K&N sells a "recharge kit" which you use to clean your cone, this is much cheaper than buying a new one...

I'm in the same dilema but in this case I do need an exhaust since I can smell mine really bad in the car and the muffler is rusted a lot. I was thinkin the N1 Dual. Also I have a 93 240sx and was wondering if it was all brackets or welding? Thanks in advance.

again, unless you're going to turbo it, there is no point in spending that much money on an exhaust for it, just look for a cheap mandrel bent 2.5" piping exhaust and then you can pick a muffler for it. besides, the apexi n1 dual is 80mm piping right? thats a bit bigger than 3"

Other than the VRS mentioned what other mufflers are good? Which sound like an Apexi cat-back?
Which intake should I go with? CAI or short ram? It rains in my area. Where can I get replacement air filters for an aftermarket intake online?
VRS makes the piping in mandrel bent, aluminized or stainless (stainless is more and both hold up very well). You get to pick either a Borla, Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler. All have great sound qualities, especially with the stock exhaust manifold. I have aluminized on my car w/ a 14 inch Magnaflow muffler and no resonators on the catback itself. Salt, road grime and other particles have not diminished the quality at all and the sound tone is superb (price was too).
I plan on putting the sr20det in there next year but I need the exhaust now. So I am trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. And btw is it just brackets and bolts or is there welding also?
Well for the exhaust, I really like A'pexi. I have the Gt-Spec on my car. 3" piping all the way. Sounds MEAN and DEEP as hell! Car alarms always go off as I pass by. My exhaust is meant for turbo applications. So being that I am NA right now, it really affects my low end torque. When I hit the higher rpm range though, that baby hauls. Not sure how the N1 Dual acts or sounds. but im sure that it wont affect your low end as much as the Gt-Spec would. Piping and mounts are perfect and fit directly just like the stock exhaust.
As for intake, I don't agree with buying the AEM or Injen for the fact that they charge too much. Ebay intakes are ALOT cheaper. In reality all you need is that intake pipe. So buy the cheap ebay intake [just for the pipe] and then buy either the K&N FIPK intake cone (supposed to be the BEST intake cone you can buy) or the A'pexi Intake cone. Both of these intake cones will give you the most HP gain. I think the FIPK is better but im not sure. In the end the total cost comes out to a little more than if you bought an INJEN or AEM, only that you get a bit more HP. Its not much difference, but yah. lol
so if there is a limited budget the short ram is the way to go? if you get that do you need any other modifications to the car. I don't know anything but want more power, I was reading here and I guess the best thing for me would be the short ram but would I need anything else? Thanks a lot.

yeah, but you'll have to replace that intake pipe in another year, beleive me, ebay is full of junk. just chill, and either buy the injen, or waste the money on an ebay one a few times.
