S13 need more power

Hi everyone, My friend owns a nissan silvia S13 and its currently powered by a CA18DE and auto trans with an open diff... <-- Not a real good recipie for fun! the ca18 is had it.. still runs, but is gonna die any day now. we're looking to do an engine conversion, as in turbo and manual. but we're kinda stumped on what engine to fit and how to fit it... an S13 manual SR20DET would be ideal everything would bolt in no worries and the SR is a strong powerful engine. But SR's r expencive and pretty rare over here, CA18DET <-- we're thinkin' that it just doesn't quite have the balls we're looking for... so we found an RB20DET... they're cheap, plenty of halfcuts around and have fair bit of power too.... so now can anyone tell me if it'll fit? and if so what kind of modifications are needed to the body/engine to get it in... and will the skyline RB20 manual gearbox fit in without any cutting/welding? and clutch master and slave and brake pedal?

Thanks, any help is appreciated, and as u can see I know nothing about engine conversions... but now looks like a good time to learn.

That's because the manifold's are hard to find. I have a KA24E waiting for turbo, in fact I have the turbo for it too, but no manifold. I don't want to have someone make one, so I need to wait until I have time and money and hit it with the mandrel and the TIG. If you know a place to get KA24ET manifolds, sunnydet, please tell me. You're doing KA24ET, right? Where are you getting your manifold?

From the jist of things I think the original author of this thread is from europe... No one I know of in the US or canada, will put a CA18DE in without the T... its just plain stupid to goto a lower displacement NA. So I think a s13 KA might be a little harder for him to get... So by all means bronekdaman, Go with the RB20

KA is a u.s. spec only motor made for our emissions. but to answer your question, yes an rb20 will fit. how easily i do not know but one thing for sure doing motor swaps in RWD is waaaaaaay easier than FWD so it shouldnt be that hard

Don

o yeah i'm also goin the RB route i saw one this past weekend and i've ditched the KA-T.
