from my past experience (i have broken 2 cluces raicing)
i can say from what i undestand that your presure plate is death,
u can do some test, put the car in the first gear, raise the foot of the pedal (clutch pedal, and do not accelerate) if the rev drop around 600-700rpm and then the car start slowly to walk then u may have a used clutch disck , or maybe one face of the clucth disck is broken
if both faces of the cluct disck are broken, the car will not move ever
when u have a almost death presure plate, u will have a wired filing, u press the clutch sift the gear and evritging is ok, u drive... shift the gera and u fill like the clutch slips, u press the clutch again and he runs almost normal, and all this are random sometimes it is ok sometimes it sleeps
My advice is to take down the gear box, from the car is not so complicated if u have the proper tools/place (and have someone with u to help u put the gear box on the ground coz it weights some kilos/lb) and see what is wrong, then buy the parts and replace them. is better then guesing and u will now exactly what part u need to buy
a little bit offtopic:
from what i have heard the stock presure plate have not enough presure to not slip at high revs, so it is better to upgrade to a better presure plate.
stock presure plate has around 1200lb/ft (i hope thet are the right units)
u can find at SPEC (
http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html ) some clutch kits stage 1 to 5 depending on how u use the car (u can find it cheper to buy on other wesites like optionimports.com from Canada)
or another good option is EXEDY, u can buy a high presure plate, and a clutch disch that will fit your driving stile.
my broken clutch were stock made by SACH in UK, good for town driving but do not try to race with it, not even street racing
ah i remebred another thing, here is a narticle about changing a clucth and another problem this time with the flyweel as i remeber
