RPM rapid drop

when i shift into 2nd gear(around 2800 most the time), the rpm drops suddenly and it almosts bogs when i let off the clutch and apply gas after shifting. what could be the problem, if any? (drops to around 1200rpm and takes sec or two to start reving again

thanks

Generally if the clutch is slipping the revs go higher

I had the same problem. i would slam on the gas, RPM's would go up but i really wouldn't be going any faster. Take you foot ont he gas and suddently the rpm's drop huge. Clutch was shot. Replaced it, no problems. Could it possibly be vacuum hoses?

hey, maybe this is just me, but i never shift that early. maybe you are just shifting too soon. most engines (based on their power band) have very little power available at 1200rpm. I shift my KA24DE around 3 grand or higher when just cruisin or in traffic. Might also try basic stuff like throttle body cleaning and or induction cleaning. hope that helps.

Does this happen only when the engine is cold or all the time? check you fuel pressure regulator. does the engine misfire? do you still have the KA24?

Check your sensors, all of them, you're driving what is probably a 14 year old car, probably just need new sensors. Mine was doing something like that and that's what I had to do. ANd the vaccum thing is a good thing to check too.
