Hello, I bought this car, I love it, but it has some issues.
the car has 141k miles, is a 5 speed, runs great. I bought it from somebody I know and trust. The car was sold to me b/c my friend just got a 2001 audi. and he hit the car on the passenger side, and dont want to spent money on it. So here I go.....
I will post some pictures this week.... to help anybody help me take decisions.
I DOT NOT PRETEND ON SINGLE PERSON TO ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS. JUST PLEASE ADD YOUR OPINION, THANKS.
1. the window on the driver door will not wok. it is up all the time, thanks god the a/c works great, otherwise the heat will kill me. may be this is something I can check or fixed, but need some advise how to do it.
2. After changing the passenger door, the seat belt light and door/open light will turn on and stay on. the seat/belt light blinks all the time. The door/open light stays on all the time. I had to replace the passenger side door b/c the car got hit on that side. the car need some body work done in the rear panel, just above the top of the right side wheel (dont know the name of the body part)
suggestion?
3. there is a noise in the engine: if you put a small stone inside a empty metal bottle of pepsi/coke and shake it really hard, that is the sound the engine does. The location of the sound is in the top part of the engine, close to the spark plugs cables.... (I dont know the name of the part of the motor)... just to give you an idea. The mecanic told me that the noice is not to worry about.
what you guys think?
4. my clutch work perfectly. but this guy I work with (he owns a 2003 maxima) tells me that after 140K miles, you should replace the clutch. I dont have money for this. The mecanic told me the clutch is fine. any inputs?
5. The car was sitting on the parking lot for about 6 months, do you guys a recommend bottles of fuel injector cleanears?
6.what does gas treatment does? should I use it?
7. should I buy oil treatment bottles..? it is worthy?
Well I have many other questions, but for now this is ok. I will be posting more. thanks for any help...
If your mechanic says the clutch is fine...don't worry about it. No need to get it fixed if it isn't broken.
If the car was sitting in the parking lot for six months, I reccommend that you drain out your fuel tank, and put in FRESH fuel (Cheveron's Techron 91 or 93 octane works great for this) , with a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, your car should run just fine. Also, you may want to do an oil change right away to get out the old crap, and put in fresh oil, spend the extra money and use Mobil 1 Synthetic ... and since your car has 141K miles, you could go with either 10w 30 or 10w 40. And when you do your oil change, use a genuine Nissan oil filter, rather than some aftermarket no-name-cheap brand. You'll get better perfomance. Also, I'd change out the Gear Oil, and flush the radiator, and you should be fine. Oil Additives, IMHO are not worth it...just a total rip off. I'd also consider changing the distributor cap, spark plugs, and spark plug wires as well, just so you know that everything is pretty much new, and have less to worry about.
Congratulations on your purchase, and hope I was of some help.
-Sam

That sounds like the infamous timing chain guide issue. If it is, it is definately something to worry about. Ask anyone who let it go and had their timing chain snap. Can you say bent valves? I think the updated kit costs around $300 for parts. You may wanna look into that.
nope, its like $400. BUT dont worry about it just yet. first, you need to have someone remove the valve cover and see what the guides look like. i think i needed new guides and chains and a friend of mine looked at it and said they were just fine. but, im not saying this is you solution, you need to have it looked at too to see if you need them replaced.
also, check the wiring on the door. if its not right, the door will say its open. this could be the contact plate as well. as for the window being up, i'd check the motor and wiring cause im guessing its a pwr window.
