break lights wont turn off

sometimes when i get out of my 240 the break lights stay on when everything is off or they will be off when i go into a store and when i come back they are on. i have asked around and some ppl say that it might b the alarm system messing it up. its a viper alarm installed by best by. anybody know anything about that or to fix it

you`ll probably have to replace your brakelight switch which is located above the brake pedal. good luck!

your only place to look is at the switch. but this sound more like a problem with the alarm system

Not the switch..but check your floorboard for some broken plastic pieces. The switch itself, has an actuator pin that pushes against a plastic tab that compresses the pin whenever the brake is not being used. This thing is a pain in the ass to replace (if you have bigger hands) but it's not expensive to fix. $3-5.00 depending on your dealer.

Wink this happened to me..

The plastic grommets on the floor are from where the brake pedal hits.. and they just get brittle.. its apparently common in these cars.. and the best fix said my mechanics is to replace them with metal nuts! And then your lights will be fine.
