Question New Exhaust

I have a SOHC KA in my 1990 240. I dont know which cat-back exhaust to put on it.
I want a deep sporty tone. No obnoctious ricey sounds! What do you guys/gals recommend?

My long term goals are to rebuild the bottom end with all new and improved internals to handle large boost numbers, so tolerance to heat and air flow are needed. Thanks

Apex'i, Blitz, HKS, Greddy, there are so many to choose from. those all sound great and just so you know, none of them are better than any others. you'll see the same results from each one.

Something to keep in mind, if you plan to go turbo in the near future, consider going with a 3" CAT-back exhaust system. The OEM size is 2" and would be way too small for a turbo setup.

thanks for your input. I know there are alot out there, I just can't decide and wanted people's opinions on one company's particular exhaust sound and style. Rogoman, I know 3" out is a must. ^_^

I'm going to go with a 3in exhaust. It will be more tuned for higher rpm power, but KA's make gobs of torque anyway. It should compliment my header/downpipe, highflow cat and intake. I used an Ebay exhaust on my old corolla, surprising quality for the price, sounded alright also.

Megan racing sells a nice catback for a moderate price.

In Project Car mag they had an exhaust that had dual tip/stock muffler, I liked it. Stainless all the way to the muffler then BAM, "STOCK"

The engine is a 2.4 liter so any exhaust is probably immediatly going to be a little lower and better sounding just for this fact alone. That "ricey" sound comes from those annoying little 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8 litres, I'd even stretch and say that some N/A 2.0 litres are a little "ricey". Carefull with a 3'' exhaust, if it's not turbo'd you going to lose power over factory.

I haven't decided yet. I'll just hold off until I get all the parts I need to make my target HP, which is around 300-350. Then I'll make a final decision. Thanks guys/gals. ^_^
