Smile First Car = First Problems

I just got a 1992 Nissan 240SX for my birthday. It ran fine for about a week and then I noticed the tailights would never turn off. I of course noticed too late and Mr. Battery dies and @ the same time alternator belt splits. I recharge the battery, still tailight thing going on, so I unplug. Now water pump go very bad because previous owner does not screw all screws in. I purchase new pump for $50 plan to install tomorrow morning.

I still need a little help with the brake lights.

BTW This is KA24 motor.(I need this car to get me from Home----> Job so I can buy SR20DET eventually)

Check the brake light switch at the top of the brake pedal; it might be shorted.

Oh by the way, keep the text in BLACK like everybody else!

Checked, Replaced, What's Going on?

I checkedand the brake switch was very hot, so I purchased new one for $6 and it's an incredible pain to replace. I'm not sure that I got it in there right and the lights still won't shut off. I just unplug the switch everytime I turn the car off.

Is it the brake Lights or the running lights???? With someone behind the car and you press the peddle do the lights come on(Peddle pressed) and off? IF so the switch is good. If you see a light on then a brighter one comes on then your brake switch is ok start looking for a bad light switch. I am sorry if this sounds very simplistic but your problem with out a good amount of information could lead us to telling you to go in the wrong direction.

Smile No More Problems

I got it fixed, I had to replace the brake switch with the little black button on it and the rubber thing that presses in. Thanks for your help. I also found out that my power steering was leaking. $126 to replace the hose. No problems anymore. I can't wait to start on my engine swap, but first I'll be putting coilovers, wheels, tires, brakes, and some other stuff for safety. My father won't let me swap engine until I upgrade brakes and suspension first.

thats smart, most people over look these components when making high horsepower cars. i wish most people would upgrade these first, you can't expect stock brakes to stop 600HP.

Gotta have suspension to hold the power. And the brakes to hold that power back...Your father is a smart man.

i put my sr in 2 oh hold on 2007 oh dats 3 years ago and im still alive. "ceramic brakes, where?". ceramic brakes have to get up to temperature to start working at there full potential. all you need are some semi metalics.

Talking

Connections boys and girls... connections. My father has alot of sponsers for his car. Porsche 911, rebuild engine, twin turbo 960hp nothing left untouched. He'll be showing his car of and probably some of his new gadgets at HIN in FL and then in ATL in Nopi coming up. It's bright yellow convertible.
