I was thinking of getting a 240. I am just needing to know:
What major/minor problems there are for the 240?
What options come with the 240?
I know that there are 2 different engines offered in the 240, but which one should I look for?
What years should I look for?
Are there any transmission issues <manual> with the 240?
Which models came with an LSD?
What are HICAS?

Sorry if these are retarded questions, I just don't know ANYTHING about the 240...

Major problems with 240's rust. minor is just misc crap that breaks, ie, o2 sensors and such.

2 options, xe and se, i may be wrong but I believe this is it.xe is a coupe, while the se is the sporty version with the LSD (this answers your second question.)

HICAS is nissans four wheel steering. (Pain in the hizazz to work with) avoid this. They do have eliminator bars for the 4 wheel steering though.

The LSD came in a package with the ABS. so if your car has LSD it's more than likely got ABS.

There are 2 motors that came in 240's one came in 89-90 body styles, and one came in 91-98 bodystyles. newer one is a DOHC engine with about 10 more hp and slightly better fuel economy that it's predecessor. Both have their pro's and cons, but in reality are pretty much the same engine.

Manual transmissions are the standard for 240's. Auto's were an option.

The 240's do also have an injector problem but their not that expensive and very easy to replace.
For the most part the only cars that have LSD were the ones that also had HICAS which also have ABS.
Depending on what you are wanting the car for HICAS may not be the greatest thing. The hicas system is ok for a street car but not much else.
As far as LSD, if you are looking to build the car aftermarket is best.
As far as what years to look for all 240's are strong, reliable cars, it just depends on what you are looking for.

I figured on the rust b/c that's what happens to most cars that are older. I have decided to go with the 240, so I need to get:
a 91-94 <I want the flip up lights so I can do the 'sleepy eyes'>
SE
with no HICAS<or just buy the part, I think someone on the forum found it for about $140>
ABS so I get the LSD

I have heard of 240's having issues with the speedo...is this correct?

I guess I should have added that I will be a college freshman next year...I'm not sure how I'm gonna do this car, but it will DEFINATELY be a little show and go.
