Air Filter

I am buying a 1990 240SX, and I need to get a new Air Filter. I was looking online at a Cool Air Filter for around $100. I wanted to know exactually what an Air Filter does and how much I should pay. I read they can boost your HP 7-10 and give you a little extra gas mileage. Please post back with some information. Thanks.

Your best bet is to stay with an OEM replaceable paper air filter which goes for around $10 to $15. A lot of these fancy and pricey air intake systems don't give very much HP increase and in fact may cause driveability problems. On the other hand if you want to make a lot of noise with the air intake, then get one.

its true about the driveability aspect however you get maybe...maybe 6hp ....4whp (wheeled horse power) its more for show...however they are still worth it b/c the filters last longer and the cone shape helps suck in air a little...best bet just buy the local k&R and leave it at that if you parts to really put in some performance ...its a small start
