Exclamation 240 Deal?No Deal?

I am looking into buying a 91 240SX for $800, everything is stock, that includes the motor. Has 142,000 miles on it, The car itself is in good condition. But thats not all, the car throws out black smoke from the exhaust and the paint job on the car isnt so good. I'm not afraid to spend a good deal of money on the car, but I want the best deal. Is this a fair ebough deal? If i get the car and plan to fix the problem with the smoke and the paint around how much am I going to have to spend?

Depends on the problem with the engine. You may want to check and see if the engine is running rich or not. Black smoke is usually a sign of too much fuel. That or carbon. Paint really isn't hard, but it is time consuming. Do any of your friends know how to do body work? Or is there a vocational school that offers auto body repair? If so, take it there. Don't expect professional results, but don't expect to pay for labor either, just supplies.

The engine is running good, its just the black smoke that comes out from the exhuast. I'm having a friend of mine who is a mechanic come with me to inspect the car alittle more. Im planning on going to a shop though to get the car sanded and painted. I thought it would be better to have a nice paint job guaranteed.I'am also looking into putting an sr20 in the 240sx. Theres just so much to do to 240's.
