Cool air intake vs. warm air intake

I have a spec -v '02. I was wondering what a cool air intake buys me over a stock (warm air intake). Is it worth doing? And will it shorten the life of the engine?

no it will not damage your engine. Wai may give you a 3-4hp gain. A aem or hotshot cai will give you a 8hp 10lbft.
