Ok, I have much love for the engine so far. But I know that Nissans have this thing where, parts from Infinitis and Nissans can swap out with ALOT of their counterparts without much modification, usually none at all, from what I've read. So my question is, is there an Infinity or Nissan tranny from one of their other cars that can fit into a sentra onto a QR25? I've been looking around and searching on LOTS of websites, but I'm having trouble finding a list of Nissan parts that can fit into other Nissans. I'd love to find a tranny from one of their other cars that has longer gears that can fit into a Sentra with little mods

Auto or manual? the housing is diffrent on the qr25, so only other qr25 trannys will be a direct fit. I beleive that the sr20 tranny gears could work with a custom housing and the sr20 axles.
If your car is auto, it is MUCH cheaper just to rebuild the auto to where it will outshift the best manual shifters out their. An auto to manual swap is a HUGE project. I looked into it and decided against it. If it is a 5 speed and you want to go to a 6, I have heard of it being done...IMO it is no justifiable.
Well, first I am going manual. I was thinking about popping the 6speed tranny in there, but I think it just bumps up the top speed a little bit. The 6speed with longer gears though, would maintain a lot more torque than a 5speed with very long gears and the HP on the 5speed's engine would have to be ALOT to be able to match performance on the 6speed.
This car had some garbage 2.0 in it before, definitely not the sr20 and then there was some recall from Nissan and the car was taken in and they popped in the qr25 that's in their right now. Even though the car feels and runs much better, the transmission on it just doesn't feel right.

HUH??? There is no way a 2002 SE-R was built with anything other than a QR25DE. Are you sure you are not in the midst of a drug induced holicination? By the way I think your idea on looking for a new transmission is interesting and while extremely costly could yield great results I just think the back ground you gave us on the car is wrong.

Fast enough? Is there such a thing?
it isnt worth your time. the 5 speed se-r is just as fast as a 6 speed spec V and many of the first spec trannys had big problems. a built auto will shift faster than the best shifters on either of those speeds. if you are building your car up for acceleration and especially the 1320, putting in a manual would be an idiotic thing to do. and the SE-R has only ever come in 2 engine trims, the SR20DE (which they stopped putting in the SE-R when they ended that last generation sentra called the B14 and they put it in the B15 SE until 2001) and now the QR25DE. you are talking about at least a few grand in parts alone. this is not a diy job unless you have EXTENSIVE knowledge on cars, and it is not something that you can just do overnight.
Well, the car used to belong to my mother. We went to a dealership that happened to be owned by an old friend of mine, it was his daughter's car, till she got into an accident with it. The frame had very little damage, but the previous engine in it, which I'm assuming was a QR25, had been changed to a 2.0. DEFINITELY not the SR20, but it was there. The engine that was in there was a SOHC on top of that. Not sure what model that was. The car ran mediocre at best. My Civic would rape that car every time we took them out. And to make matters worse, the Sentra only topped out at about 108mph. After my mother took the car in for the recall, they changed the engine to the QR25. I hadn't driven it, still assuming that the same engine was in there, until I got the car and started driving it. As soon as i started driving it, I noticed the difference in the engine. Got the car home, looked under the hood and sure enough, there was the 2.5 in all it's honorable glory sitting in its throne like the king it was. On top of that, the car was now hitting over 125mph.
Such is the story of my charismatic Sentra.

this thread is closed. there hasn't been a Sentra available with an SOHC engine since before the early 90s.
THERE WAS NO 2.0L ENGINE AVAILABLE FOR THE SENTRA IN 2002.
until you get your facts straight, it might be wise of you to stop talking.
also, your automatic isn't hitting any 125mph with the drivetrain loss and aerodynamic drag. sorry thrilla.
