custom exhaust -VS- state emissions check...

An annual exhaust emissions certification is mandatory in my state. For those of you who have retrofitted with aftermarket custom header/exhaust components AND must pass an emissions test, what does this do to your emissions results??

I think as long as you keep the secondary cat you should be fine(you may also want to get a O2 sim). If your worried about passing emissions, do not get the Stillen header. Stillen comes with a downpipe so it replaces both cats(I know, I have it). Don't quote me on the emissions thing, I don't have to get tested so I don't know for certain... so this is just my opinion.

It depends on the laws of your state. You need to read up your local laws.

you could always cheat.
im setting my spare engine (another qg18) for a turbo. im getting chimmikes kit (free plug !). his kit includse an Apexi SAFC. i think it allows 2 saved a:f mixes. you could cheat, set up one for optimal performance, then set the second one to be lean (not dangerously lean, just enough to kick it down a notch). just load the lean mix program a little while before you get the inspection, get your inspection sticker, then change it back on the way home.
