Question Nismo Intake

I just bought my '04 Spec V a month ago and I want to put the Nismo CAI on it. I went to Ferman Nissan to get prices and the guy told me it would void my warranty if I got the CAI even if they install it. For everyone out there with a CAI, did Nissan void your warranty?

I'm almost positive a S-Tune CAI is guarenteed by Nissan not to void a warranty.

Unfortunately there is no S-Tune CAI, the CAI is r-tune and is not warrantied. Each dealer has their own idea what will and what won't void the warranty. Although the moss-magnesun act is fairly clear, it doesn't stop the dealer from giving you a hassle.

Beat, I always thought the NISMO CAI was S tune. Never looked into it too much because I'm not rockin one any time soon. All S-tune components are warrantied and R-tune are not, rite?

Correct, the warranties last as long as your cars drivetrain or bumper to bumper warranty, depending on the part.

Wow, that is a lot of grey areas. My buddy got a NISMO SE-R V and i know it has CAI and exhaust (I believe this is S-tune) and a lot more stuff. Does that mean that his car doesnt have a warranty at all or just doesn't have a warranty on the CAI?

Your buddies warranty is fine, they just won't honor it if they can prove that his CAI was the cause of the problem he would be debating over. Search this forum for that act, I'm sure someone had a link to the full thing. It's worth the read if you mod your car still under warranty. The cat-back is S-tune and warranteed.

I doubt just reading what is written on the forum or anywhere else means much. Like I said, that is a lot of grey area, it is mad sketchy. I'de imagine some dealers would be more likely to honor warranties than others. Hell, some would proabably try to tell someone that their CAI caused the transmission to blow and that their warranty is now void.

I don't think you read my post very carefully. I said search for a link to the act itself. Or better yet, just click here:
http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/magnusonmoss.htm
And just in case anyone ever needs to search for this on the forums again...
this is the magnuson moss warranty act of 1974.
Hope this helps clear up the confusion.

This is a really GRAY AREA, I have the NISMO CAI and first off it is awesome!!! Great sound, & power!! I also have the NISMO Exhaust.

Last week we had an International Auto Show here in Albuquerque, Nissan and NISMO both had booths there! NISMO was displaying a catalogue which had an '04 Spec V that had both R & S Tune Parts on it, i.e CAI, Suspension, Exhaust, Headers, and Caps, I think the only thing it was missing was the Cams, but then again I didn't ask. I specifically asked the NISMO rep if all NISMO parts were covered under factory warranty, he said yes. BUT, he said it is only questioned if an issue ever arises, where the parts were installed. He said that if the parts were installed by a Nissan, or any other Authorized NISMO dealer there is no question.

So who the hell knows...at least I know I shouldn't have a problem since this was said in front of many of the sales reps from my local Nissan Dealer. And I bought my Spec this way anyway, with an extended warranty!!

See I want to get the Nismo CAI, but I'm afraid that if I have Nissan install it, they will have it down on record and if I do have an issue and take off the CAI before I bring it to them, then they will pull up my records an see I had a CAI. My Dad works part-time for Nissan, so I get labor half off and parts like 10-15% above cost. So I want to have them install it since it's cheaper, but I don't want to get screwed in the long run if I have any issues.....
