Really?....i was still under the impression that AEBS is better than HS, i thought AEBS had more of a power gain...
I guess you havent seen many AEBS dyno charts. AEBS makes right around the same whp, maybe a bit less than HS w/ a substantial lack of torque in comparison. Around 10wtq to be exact. If there was a worthwhile HP gain over the HS I would say it would be worth it to lose a bit down low but why give up a bunch torque and not gain any more HP? That is why I got the OBX and sold my AEBS. I havent dynoed the OBX yet but my car has allready proven quicker at the track than with the AEBS. Hell I couldve about bought the OBX header and cams for what I paid for the AEBS header. It is definately not even close to being worth the money. For what you get you could almost see the $600 price tag. It is a full length header w/ midpipe and high flow cat. That is why I bought it. Only to learn the primaries were much too big, the high flow cat they supplied sucked and flowed worse than the stock cat. Bottom line is the stock midpipe and cat flow GREAT and HS and OBX(which is an exact copy of the HS for less than half the price) are your best bet for headers. HS has proven over and over that it makes the best gains and I think soon we will see that OBX shows very similar gains. There is a guy over at B15 w/ an OBX header, intake and exhaust and 50 shot that has gone 13.6's at 101mph so obviously the OBX is doing its job. Those numbers are just as good as any HS car on the spray that I have seen. If there was any big difference in flow you would really notice it with N20.

There was a thread on thevboard recently that had a comment about the difference in the two headers. Basically, they said that HS gains more right away, but if you heavily modify your car (and I mean heavily) you would definitely see much better gains with the AEBS. This is due to the 4-2-1 construction whereas the HS is just 4-1. I read it a couple days ago... but I think that's right. I'll try to get a link to the thread.
Congrats on the install, now if only the header mod was silent....
YellowV, does the OBX have 2 o2 bungs? I have 2 in my older gen Hotshot, and beleive it or not, I've got them both in the header. No SES after 3k miles, with no wires extended, and no sim. (Knock on wood)
I'll be going with the OBX if/when my hotshot rusts....
The OBX header is based on the newest generation HS header so it only has one 02 bung. The Hotshot and OBX are 4-2-1 headers not 4-1 just like the AEBS allthough the secondaries on the HS and OBX are MUCH shorter. The reason the AEBS doesnt make great power on the QR25 is because its simply too big. It has 1 7/8" primaries and 2.25" secondaries. I know of guys with 10 second LS1's that dont have headers with primaries that big. Hell they are almost as big as the tubes on my big block. Had they made the primaries and secondaries a bit smaller it wouldve made better power. The AEBS isnt going to really show any advantage until compression and redline is raised big time. Or a BIG shot of nitrous is used. For 99% of us the AEBS is a waste of money being that we will never build the engine to the extent that the AEBS requires to make better power than the HS. I doubt that once you got to the point where the AEBS will have a real advantage over the HS your motor wouldnt even be streetable any more.
