NISMO CAI Intalled....suspect problems

Installed NISMO CAI, drove about 200 miles, then SES light and "limp" mode to my garage. I suspect MAS problem. Are the symptoms in line with that problem? Advise, solutions, help!

Yeah that sounds about right.....check to make sure the MAS is plugged back in all the way. Check around the board. This problem has been posted a lot of times.

"Check around the board." I'm ignorant here. Last car I got my hand dirty on was a '65 Mustang. Clue me in here. Thx.

use the search button and search for CAI.....it's most likely your MAF is put on backwards or something not plugged back in all the way

Check all the connections, with the negative terminal on the battery undone, and then clear the ECU.

Although limp mode, usually requires a trip to the dealer.

Sounds like the MAF is backwards or you damaged it while doing the install.

no...doesnt sound like you put it on backwards if you drove it for 200 miles with no problem, if you put it on backwards you would have had it immediatley. its probly damaged or fried or the connection came loose. play with it, check around and try different things as mentioned above. get it fixed quick er else you wont be going anywhere above 3,000 rpm.

Question

Went back under the hood, checked connections, made sure the MAS housing was installed in the right direction (i.e., air flow towards the engine intake)...don't recall dropping or touching the sensor itself...I mean it is pretty protected withing the housing.

If blown, would it be visible to visual inspection?

Lastly, blown MAS seems to be a recurring problem with CAI's. What's the solution? Is there a "high performance" MAS available that would handled the environment presented by the CAI?

the MAF could have blown due to your mishandling of it. I had a MAF blow because it bounced when I hit a bump in the road. And no, there's no way it's visible for visual inspection. Very sensitive unit.

It's not really a recurring problem, one way or another it comes down to one of two things 1)faulty piece (much less likely) and 2) handler error (the main cause).
no, there's no high performance MAF (it's MAF, not MAS) available.

This could be an expesive fix. MAFs aren't cheap.

If you have to get a new one, check www.car-parts.com, I just searched and found them starting at $75.
