Nismo Cold Air Intake

Hey everyone,

I plan on getting myself a Nismo Cold Air Intake (I live in Canada, they don't sell them here yet, but I'll get one from the states).

I've been talking with a friend, and he tells me I shouldn't install it before I change my catback. If I change just the Cold Air Intake, that the sensor might not be able to detect that there's more air in the engine and make the adjustments to the fuel, and I might heat up my engine more than actually gain performance.

Now I doubt him a little bit, cause I've seen lots of people change their Air System without putting/changing their catback system. And since the product is Nismo, then I'm guessing there shouldn't really be a problem.

So here I am, asking the pros about it

Also, another question. Did anyone have any problems with the Nismo CAI? Or did anyone install a Nismo after having installed a AEM or Injen, and is there a difference? When I look at the benchmarks, they are all in the same range, so I doubt there would be much of a difference, but I want to go with Nismo, cause well, it's Nissan, so they know their car better (I hope).

Thanks for your time.

You won't see any differences with the Nismo and AEM or Injen. The only thing we have seen that is different is the sound, the AEM and Injen are somewhat louder than the Nismo at WOT. With your friend talking about having to change exhaust before intake, that makes no sense at all. You will have no problems getting intake before exhaust.

That's what I thought! Thanks for the input! Much appreciated!

hey man just get the nismo one. i got the nismo one and
its sounds great you can hear it as soon as you hit the
gas. but let me tell you and i said this before.if you still got the
warranty on the car you better go witht the nismo one.
if you dont got the warranty then get wat ever is the
cheapest/ plus the nismo one is more expensive one do the
fact that it comes with the by pass in the package.
that could also mean that is less loud than the others.
cause of the by passs/

Intake is not only for sounds, and what does warranty have to do with it? The nismo cai is still not covered, and the dealership has to prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. It's the law.

I ended up getting the AEM CAI back in January and I've been loving it since The sound mostly comes on only when I go over 3,500RPM, which I think is nice. I don't like it when it makes too much sound, allows me to keep that "sleeper" thing going on when I'm just cruising.

As for the warranty, some people still keep it. I've installed the CAI when it was about -10 outside (well I did most of it in a garage) and then I did some fine tuning later on at -10, and actually broke a screw because of the cold! I went to my Nissan dealer, poped the hood open to ask them if they had a replacement screw (I found something in the same sizes at Home Depo, which I was using temporarly). The guy looked at the CAI, said the screw I had would do the job and never talked about the warranty being voided and stuff, and they still fixed the radio under warranty right after that.

i got my spec v w/ the cai and the exaust, i'm happy with it, not too loud unless i get on the throttle and makes a nice non-farty noise too... as to the warranty...according to nissan's site, nismo (s-tune) stuff has a warranty (i forget the mileage/time) and if it is installed when you get the car, carry's 3yrs/36000miles, but whatever you put, they have to prove your part caused whatever problem you go to them with, but w/ nismo stuff i guess it's nice that you can take it to the dealer if you have problems w/ it..(i'm guessing) but i think the cai was r-tune stuff anyways...
