Spec-V won't start

a couple of times now my spec-v hasn't wanted to start. Tonight it started and idled OK, but if I reved above 2500 RPM or so it would lurch really bad, like it was vapor locking. I cracked the cap and it started and ran fine. Has anyone else had problems with the outflow valve or gas cap?

Isn't that the symptom of a bad MAF? Do you have a CAI?

doesn't sound like a maf to me... it ran fine as in you could drive it above 2.5k-3k rpm?

I would say below 2.5k but don't remember specifically.
the car has never had a CAI on it. it's bone stock.
like I said, cracked the gas cap and it's been OK, just don't want to get stranded

try it again and let us know. if it runs fine with what you did to the gas cap it's not the MAF.

I'll keep an eye on it. The power surged like it was running on one cyl, I've never had a car vaporlock before but it felt like what I'd expect. Who knows. I'll probably run it my a dealer in a week or two just to be sure.

could be, she's been fine for 2 days now. I bought the car in dallas and moved it to denver, so maybe the altitude has something to do with it also

Shot in the Dark... I started having some long starts on my Spec-V and after my first trip into the dealership to ask about it the dealer claimed they've had a few issues with the Fuel pumps. Now to be fair I live in Canada and our winters are a bit demanding on any car. The fuel pump was replaced under manufacturer warranty the next day!

Problem solved. Perhaps you could ask about the fuel pump. The replacement takes about 3-4 hours as they are located under an access pannel beneath your rear seats. As the courtesy shuttle pulled away from the dealership I caught a glimpse of my car with the rear seats out and thought man I hope this does the trick... Sure enough no problems since.

the fuel pumps leak down, try turning the key just until
you here the pump kick in,after it stops, then try & start
the car,if that solves your problem have your pump replaced,
warranty should cover it

I think it's the security system. Tried to start it with the other key the other day, no joy. My key has been fine, no problems. I'll have all 3 keys re-programmed and see how things are
