knock in spec v

has anyone had any knocking problems in their 03 spec v's? My buddy has 6,000 miles on his and it just started to knock last night. He just had the flywheel and clutch replaced. I dont understand it, he drives it like a grandma. Im harder on mine than he is and mines fine so far, other than the ac problem

is he running 93 octane gas or 87? that could be the problem right there.

what kind of noise is it making and what mods are on the car.

It sounds like the lifters need adjustment but Im not sure. Its a tapping noise and its pretty loud at idle. He did run 87 in it for one fill up until i got on him about it.

Its the fuel injectors. The fuel rail runs at 51psi so its makes the injectors sound like they are tapping. This is the loudest injestor system I have even heard.

Yeah, generally a car will not knock unless it's under load. And with 93 octane gas, I would have to say it's most likely not knock.

It got really loud one night. I mean it sounded like a john deere tractor, but it hasnt done it since. I cant explain it. I told him keep driving it and if it blows up get it replaced.

They're louder on the LS1 and LT1 GM engines.

no, but I checked it. He put some damn no smoke treatment in it thinking it was like tx47. He doesnt think. Hes like, man I just put some of that stuff in my car to make it last longer and run better. I was like man your cars not smokn so why did you pour that mollasses shit in your car. "oh, I thought it was the stuff to reduce friction."
