Hey, What up? I got a Nissan Sentra 1998 right now and I am considering a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V. I was wondering if the catalytic converter/oil consumption problem is also on the 2003 QR25 2.5 for the Sentra.
I have an 03, I broke it in somewhat gently for the first 1000, and now i pound the shit out of it alot. 11500 miles, runs perfectly, no oil consumption.

i am the exact same way....but I have only 9000 miles
Adults who bought '02 have not had problems, you just have to break it in right, very gental (under 3k) first 500-1000, then gradualy harder till about 5000, then after about 7500 your okay. I have 12k on my '02 with no issues, did'nt run hard till about 7000.
Who the hell wants to take it easy on a car for 7500 miles??? I wouldnt even consider an 02 for that reason. And even if you did take it easy, you still have no guarantee. Just go for an 03 and save yourself some possible trouble.

thanks for the input, ppl....
thing is, i dont wana end up w/ a car that id have a unexpected (and major) problem thats caused by a design flaw... im guessing the close coupled cat was the problem...?
id rather push myself to the limit, and spend the extra $75-100 a month and get the mazdaspeed or WRX
the reason im considering the spec V is cuz theres NOTHING within a $1000-1500 range that even comes close...
the new SI??? uh, no...
the SVT??? checked that out... 19K even w/ the Z plan
the mini??? a lil bit too small....
tiburon...???? no front wheel drive V6s, please....
spec v wins it hands down for the best sportcompact bang for the buck IMO....!
