Knock Retard...

Anyone have an idea of how many degrees retard is possible when the knock sensor is sensing heavy knocking?

hey hey

You know I am not sure how to check timing on the spec, but Bgriffey I would say take the KS out of the block , hook up your timing light and beat on the KS and see how many degrees it retards.

Thats what I would try.

I have read up to 8 degrees, but don't take this info to be reliable.

er...sarah covered this in the latest npm, i think. something about put a piece of wood on a solid metal part of the block and beat on it with a hammer. i don't think beating on the ks is a good idea

8* is correct. I have seen it first hand using a odbII pocket logger. The normal reduction is between 2-4*.

No, many people on here don't know what they are doing. Which may be a good reason why they are here. You know, trying to get a little info and learn something......

I would have to conjecture how novel that commentary essentially is?

In my scores of years, occurrences avowed above, these types of manners are disparaging to others along with themselves.

It's apparent that those lacking in the factual sense, refer to effortless annotations.

Those who are adroit, would apprehend the indigenous nature of this forum. I'm not on here to ribald Lazarus in any deportmant, I deem myself as a tantamount to Lazarus. It's a real disgrace that he has a predilection towards others.

In otherwords, you can use your finger to tap on the end of it.

Makes perfect sense, right?

To those who think before they act or in some cases speak.

Sorry. I'm not getting down on the guy asking questions, but the people giving him STUPID ASS answers. Here's the deal peeps... if you don't KNOW, don't give advice to somone who may ASSume you DO know. Advising somone to beat on their knock sensor has not been a good idea since the middle-eighties. What you are willing to do with your car is not necessarily what you should advise someone else to do, especially if he (and likely you) does not know the possible consequences of his actions.

props to cortrim1 for having an answer that does not involve someone else beating their car with a hammer.

Edited....please don't try and flame

I understand that, and I agree with that. It's just kinda messed up the way you said it. Relax a little bit, it's all good. Peace.
