Bigjoshracing.com has some headers on their website for the spec-v. But i'm not sure how reliable they are. So, I was just wondering if any of you had them, and if you could provide me with some dyno results if available. Thank for any of you help.

They are a good header for the price. $250 for the black coated one, i have heard that their ceramic header is more prone to cracking because it holds in more heat which is better for performance but the metal takes the toll in the long run, Neuspeed had this problem for a few years too. The chrome one is just $25 worth of shine, so if looks dont matter as much to you i would just go with the black one. Then you could always paint it yourself with a high temp spray paint. They make this stuff for painting wood stoves that works great, they make it in flat black and metallic black & colors. Metallic would be cool, or you could red, i think red would be unique and look good too. just my 2 cents
"What is the temperature range for Krylon® paints?
Krylon® Interior/Exterior paints can be used on objects that do not exceed 120°F. Above 120°F, the color and gloss level could change. Krylon Products Group also makes flat-finish BBQ & Stove and Hi Heat & Radiator paint for special applications. These paints can withstand temperatures of up to 1200°F. Krylon® BBQ & Stove and Krylon® Hi Heat & Radiator are perfect for painting grills, radiators, wood-burning stoves, and fireplace equipment. " --- or a header for your rice rocket
well, you can get a nice header from http://www.bigjoshracing.com the black one is only $250 and it is just as good as the Hotshot header(so I hear) and even if it isn't quite as good... it is definately a lot cheaper and it will still do it's job.... When I got my header I think Hotshot was one of the only companies with one out... maybe Stillen too?? I don't remember though, plus I didn't use this message board to get info if there were others. I think if you got that MR axel back exhaust... the CAI you have and the kamikaze header you'd be doing alright you might even want to break out like $250 and take your car to a muffler shop and run 2.5" piping all the way back from the cats and just get a high performance muffler from them?? I think I read that 2.5" is the ideal diameter for our cars....especially with a CAI/Header you could use it I'm sure, and be sure to have the 2nd O2 sensor welded on when they do your stuff... that is something I forgot to do so I have a service engine light on and do not forget some resinators of some sort to quiet it down.... that I also forgot, my car is friggin loud :-)

How much do you think it would cost approximately to have a muffler shop put on an intake header and exhaust all at once? This is probably a stupid question because the price will be different in different places. I could do the intake myself but if I'm doing the rest might as well have it all done at once. Thanks! Later,
Fletch
well, if you got the kamimaze header it'd be close to $300 after shipping..... CAI will be around $100-200 depending on which one you get... the Megan Racing is around $100 and I only heard good things about it....also install should be free because you can do that.... exhaust, if you got 2 1/4" piping from the cat back(don't forget to have them hook up a spot for the O2 bung)and a generic high performance muffler it would run you around $250 installed(did for me anyway). maybe they will charge you $80 for the header install if you don't feel like doing it yourself.... so:
Megan Racing CAI=$100 free install
Kamikaze Header=$250+$50 shipping+$80 install(($380)
Custom 2 1/4" cat back job/muffler=$250 installed

well I got $730 but that is with a give or take $50 either way... there are even cheaper CAI's as well.....if you want to save more money... and the header install is not hard at all..... the tensioner is right behing the passenger front wheel... just pull off the cover in there and you can loosen it to move the alternator.....take out like 7-8 bolts pull it off.... put the new one on(assuming you get the kamimkaze) then put the atlernator back by lossening the tensioner a little... header install should only take maybe 1 1/2 hours... that would drop the price for all of it to $650 give or take $50 that's pretty nice(don't forget you can talk ghetto corner muffler shops down on their prices)
Cornut,
I see that in your profile thing you have an underdrive pulley. How do those work and where did you get yours? Cost? Thanks again! Later,
Fletch
it's an underdrive pulley which mean it underdrives the A/C, alternator etc... but the one for our cars doesn't really underdrive the stuff.... which is a good thing btw.... It gets most of its weight loss because it is like 2 lbs instead of the stock one.... which is heavy.... it's $180-190 at www.southwestautoworks.com

i understand that some people have never touched a wrench before and refer to srewdrivers as; the "plus" one and the "minus" one. BUT, it still always bothers me when people wont even do their own installs with simple mods to their car. I dont expect you to install your own cams or anything but you could atleast do the Intake and header on your own, or at least get help from a friend or something, shit, you could even just follow the directions that come with it. Sport Compact Car has some good "install" articles too.

I've done my own intake installs before. I just figure if I buy all these things at once and I'm getting the other ones put on and it doesn't cost a lot more I'll just have the shop do it all at once. I'm not mechanically retarded, , but if I'm already paying someone to do things I can't do then I'd rather just have it all done at once. I'm sure it will cost enough that I'll just do it myself but I was just curious. That's why I asked a question. If you aren't going to provide help then why give your negative opinion?

sorry for the "negative" opinion, i didn't mean for it to be taken that way. I can understand your point of view. But still IMO, if i was, say... going to have the local muffler shop i.e.(www.leonsmufflers.com, i used to work there, and no im not in any of the pictures) replace my exhaust from the cat back and add an aftermarket muff. and had a header ready to put in too, there's no way i would pay them to install the header at the same time.....and miss out on all that fun, hell no, I love working on cars, and it's always fun and interesting for me when it's a performance mod!
