travis is using the stock internals no mods will be nessary with this kit because the engine will snap its rods at 275whp(according to jim wolf). So until we get new rods and pistons and a decoded ecu there is no reason for different valve springs because you would not be able to take advantage of the new parts. Also there is not a stand alone engine management system that can handle ctvc so you could not use a higher rev limiter with the ctvc.

Stillen is lying if they say just an exhaust is netting 20hp at the wheels. I promise. [/b]
What about the Maxima? I had a 95 Max Se and with cold air intake and b-pipe it was supposed to get big gains. And with the Cattman y-pipe, hello. For sure big gains. I can't imagine what the gains are on the new Maxima and Altima.[/quote]

I'd have to agree with this. 30HP is unrealistic unless maybe the car has forced induction to start with. On a turbo car, and 15HP gain is possible depending on how restrictive the stocker was.

The number one NA HP gain on the Spec V is going to be a header with no cat.

Race shops are out ot make money and I don't belive a lot of the dyno's I see. Not that the dyno's are fake, but it's takes a number of parts put togeather to get added HP. No exhaust for the spec V is going to free up 25HP. No way in Hell. If you have a intake, header w/out cat, main high flow cat, no resenator, and a free flowing muffler, or a cat back, you might see 25-30HP over a 100% stock car. If you have been around long enough, you would know that getting rid of stock cats, and mufflers alone are going to free up power, not the larger exhaust. At least not for a na 2.5l

Or you might get a little gain on top, but the low end loss would be lousy.

I have a 04 spec v with recent adds of a hotshot header, AEM CAI, magnaflow cat back. Tremendous pull especially in higher gears. I am speculating a gain of somewhere between 25-30 HP. I did add a larger resonator (18") to reduce some of the drown when at freeway speeds.

It's a rocket...

Cool

Only speculating.. whatever it is was a dramtic improvement over stock. Here is what I thought-

header- 11 hp
cat back - 7 hp
CAI- 7 hp

More realistic whp...

header- 5hp
exhaust- 3hp
CAI- 4hp

The thing about breathing components is that they all work off each other. You will experience better results by manipulating the entire system as opposed to just a one of the components.

For instance....

If you install a CAI, and don't touch the header or exhaust, great. But all that fresh air that is coming into your car is now getting bottlenecked in two places.
