sorry if there's already another thread for this subject, but i searched and couldn't find one...
so okay, last week my SES light came on. had it scanned and got a result of my engine idling high. after running two cans of sea foam through it, i figured that the IAC valve needs cleaned by hand. i know what it looks like, i know what it does, i know how it works, i know how to clean it, i know it's usually attached to throttle body, but it isn't where it's typically supposed to be on my car. can anyone help me out as to where it would be on this specific model? thanks.
it's in the actual throttle body. not 100% on this but i don't know if you can actually replace just the iacv, i think you might have to replace the whole thing
i looked into it, and it is built in to the throttle body. since that's the case, how do i clean it? there isn't an entry point for me to get in there with even a q-tip, and affording a new throttle body definitely isn't in my budget at the moment.
The valve is electronic encased and attached to the throttle body. You can clean the TB using a can of CRC TB cleaner. Spray on rag, wipe off residue in TB w/o moving the plate all too much. They can be very finnicky is sprayed directly into the TB or moving the plate much. Are you certain it's the TB? You may have a vacuum leak somewhere. You can try the idle air volume relearn:

right. i read somewhere else that i shouldn't spray any kind of cleaner directly into the TB, and that i should use a rag instead. the only reason i haven't cleaned it yet was because the mechanic where i work suggested that i clean the IACV first.
since i know now that i can't even get to the valve i'll try cleaning the TB, and check for a vacuum leak as well. i should've done that first, but as soon as my mechanic mentioned the IACV my mind went one-tracked. and either way i'll have to relearn when i'm done, considering i'll have to disconnect the TPS to take the TB out.
as far as the code, the only thing my mechanic told me was that the engine was idling high. i can get the exact code tomorrow, if need be.
I say thuroughly check for vacuum leaks, clean TB and MAF, perform the idle air relearn to see if the problem still exists.
although i'm going to check into all of those possibilities, i'm guessing it's either a bad MAF or dirty throttle body. i have a nismo CAI, and the bypass valve cracked a few weeks ago. it was a few days before i could order a new one and swap the nismo out with the stock intake, and by the time i switched them out i noticed that there was a significant gap between the bypass and the pipe. so more than likely something between the bypass valve and the manifold is bad/dirty because of that mishap.
hey guys ?
I read this comments to late , I clean the TB with Carb cleaner without removing nothing and opening the throttle manually , and now the SES light comes and the acceleration of the car is high , the Nissan dealer told me that is a proble with the Calibration of th electronic TB but i don't know if that is true .
do you know something of this ?
i only have 2 weeks with my car 03 Se R spec V 59300 miles
the MSV IAVL procedure is inaccurate. a p0507 code 9x out of 10 means that the throttle chamber (throttle body) will need to be replaced. do not do not do not use CRC MAF cleaner or TB cleaner!!!! at least once a week a get a repair order in the shop that says something like "client states MIL illum....cleaned MAF/TB with CRC cleaner and re-oiled K&N filter and vehicle will not idle." not only does the "cleaner" break up the carbon built up in the TB, it breaks up the electrical contacts inside your electronic TB or your MAF and nissan will not except a TB that has been cleaned with anything other than the nissan fuel injector cleaner as a core, adding 160 dollars to the cost of your new TB. Plus if your car is under warranty, those parts will not be covered if the technician sees the residue/evidence of cleaner...
before you buy a new TB though try grabbing the wiring harness right at the passenger side corner of the valve cover (between the valve cover and intake manifold) and giving it a GENTLE shake while the car is idling...there is a 90 deg. bend in the harness right there and i've seen a bunch of cars with broken wires in that area, and that is where the TB wires are run from...if the idle drops or picks up while you are moving the harness you'll have to repair them but that should be way cheaper than replacing the TB.
