Synthetic Motor Oil good or bad for Nissan SE Sentra 2006

Hi I was wondering if synthetic oil is better for Nissan Sentra's or should it not be used? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Synthetic oil is great stuff. Adding some info about you car would help. Does it have 300,000 miles or 30,000?

Use the search function for this, and you will not come up short on 'synthetic oil' reading.

i have heard both sides. i have a friend that works at nissan as a tech, has been there for 10+ years. they advise him not to use synthetic at all because it weakens the piston rings. then i have other people tell me it's ok to use. honesly, i change mine every 2500 miles so i use regular oil. as long as you use good oil and change it when it's supposed to be changed, i really don't see anything wrong with only using regular

Smile Syn or Reg.

I have an 04 Spec V and have used Mobile 1 since my first oil change. No problems plus it doesn't get gummy. Plus it seems that the engine revs quicker and I don't use any at all. Only drawback is that it's more expensive. But like the prior post said no matter what you choose change it and the filter every 3000.

Thanks.
I owned about 15 cars and a few I decided to use synthetic didnt make a difference, I also just bought a 2006 Sentra SE-R a 7 weeks ago, Im using 5w30 Castrol, it works great, I just changed mine about 2 weeks ago and castrol working fine, every 3000 or less in wet or where temps change drasticly conditions. Save your money on the Synthetic!

This issue has been debated forever on Bobistheoilguy.com. You can find oil reports of engines like yours and mine (04 SE-R),and find 3000 mile change with dino oil till you get too 10000 should give a good clean breakin and switch to Castrol 0-30 or any good synthetic with about 7500 changes from then on. This has proven to be a good plan for all 4 of my vehicles. As the mileage gets up there the Penzoil High mileage or similer can take over for the rest of the life.
