Because I've seen a few on the streets and it's about the same size as my subaru legacy. If I went for a test drive in it but sitting in the passenger seat, will I still feel how fun it is to ride in? Because I don't know how to drive a stick yet. This car is one of my options. The other choices I have is the 2006 or 2007 vw 2.5 rabbit and the 2007 honda fit. Many people say that small hatchbacks are a lot more fun to drive compared to mid size cars. And is there any front lip spoilers or bumpers out there that looks good?
I'm gonna agree and say it's way better than a rabbit or fit...but you can't compare the fit with the spec v, they're two different cars. And just because the rabbit has a 2.5 doesn't mean it's the same idea.
There are better options than the Spec V for the money, though.
like a used 240sx with a sr20 swap or even an older SE-R is mor modifiable. subaru's WRX will handle better and be more fun if your looking for a full size. the spec v is a great car for those who already own one, but if your gonna spend that kind of cash get something more modifiable or more reliable.
basically, the spec v is the oldest design spo-com out right now. Every other spocom it competes against either has more power or handles better or both, and the QR25 isn't exactly a smooth, high revving powerplant

Truth, however to answer your question since they aren't lacking in torque they are fun to drive.

I have a 02 WRX and my girlfriend has a 02 Spec-V. Spec-V has better pickup (although my WRX is pushing the limits of the stock turbo at stage 2) and is very fun in the city. the ride is super harsh and very loud on the freeway. It has been less reliable then my 02 WRX. it is nearly impossible to find a 02 or 03 non-abused or modified WRX.
Personally I say go for the Rabbit. You get a crap load of features and a good warranty and not have to worry about it untill around 60,000 miles. If you can afford the DSG (if they offer it in the rabbit) then you don't need to worry about driving a manual although it is a good think to learn. The fit is not go. It is slow and very raw for the amount it costs.
I would not buy a new spec-v. It will be worth next to nothing in 2 years when they release their new body and engine platforms. The new Civic Si is a much better deal then that.
And don't buy a used Spec for the same reasons. Depreciation and questionable engine reliablity unless taken very well care of (Hard to find among young drivers).

i bought a new 2006 sentra se-r and I really enjoy it alot, compared to a 2003 ford focus. Most of the young ladies around here love it and I am putting in my 2 -12 inch xplodes and new kole 1000 amp, with new alpine and 4 new alpine speakers.
Sony Xplod's and a Kole amp? can someone say flea market crap... And just so you know Kole doesn't make an amp that is true 1000 watts. I can't believe you would put that crap in your SER. And post these things in some other thread. Everyone was talking about how they drive, not their "high end" system they are putting in.
SE-R is definitly much more fun to drive than the rabbit (golf) or honda fit. It does take a little time to get used to since the gas/brake pedals are much more "direct" than the average car. To put it simply, if you push 1 inch into the accelerator of your SE-R, it's pretty much like pushing halfway into your honda acelerator. Reversly though, it becomes VERY annoying if you drive anything else. I also have a Volvo C70 convertible for the summer, but since i got my SE-R, i can't enjoy driving the C70 anymore because its so boring and slow, in other words.... the SE-R makes the C70 seem like a schoolbus in terms of driving style.
Also... if you're going to get an SE-R to get enjoyment out of it, make sure you dont redline it too much, 2.5L 4 cylinder engines have longer connecting rods, which make it more prone to breaking under extreme conditions.

Overall, awesome car.
i HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT 6-7 WEEKS NOW AND I CANT STAND TO DRIVE ANYTHING ELSE JUST BECAUSE IT IS LIKE THAT BUT FUCK I LOVE THAT ABOUT THE CAR... I AM GLAD THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE CARS RECALLED BACK TO THE NISSAN CALIFORNIA FACTORY AND THEY CHANGED THE ENGINE. AND IT ALSO CAME WITH 7 YRS OR 100,000 MILE WARRENTY
UNLESS I AM DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH IT IN 3-4 YEARS I WILL MOVE IT BEFORE I HIT 100K IM NOT INTO MASSIVE REPAIRS, BAD ENOUGH I ALREADY GOT LIKE 1300 IN A SYSTEM, ALPINE RECIVER, XM ADDON, KOLE AMP, AND BOX W/2 SONY 12' XPLODES, NOT TOO SHABBY, NEXT IS 4 TWEEDERS THAT SCREEM. HMMMMM, WHAT ELSE DAM,
WRITE ME BACK. NICE 2 MEET YOU FELLOW SE-R BUDDY!

I'm guessing you have made your decision now but I also have an '06 Spec V. Its a freak'n blast to drive and if you get the right exhaust, it sounds sooooo good!!! I got my mine done at a local tuner shop in town and he does GREAT work! 2.25in Cat Back exhaust and it just rumbles the right way! I'm looking to upgrade to 2.50 piping with Nismo Headers and Megan Racing Downpipe. I already have the AEM CAI and resonator removed.
Anyways, I have a few more things done to it now too but just to answer your question, I really hope you went with an '06 Spec V!! Its so much fun to drive and feels really comfortable! You'll love it. I find myself driving around with a cocky smurk on my face every once and a while..Lol! You'll see why once you have it for a while and find out just how quick it is!
