if you buy the nismo header w/o cat will it throw a CEL, or is like others were you have to extend sensor wire and weld in furthur down the exhaust piping.

Wrong! Nismo is just the header, not downpipe. It only removes the first cat.
But since you are removing the first cat, you will have to get some type of O2 sim.

woops, sorry, couldn't you just extend the 2nd o2 sensor behind the cat under the car then?

The second sensor is right in front of the cat on the 04/05, so basically, you could do that, but I think the 02 sim would be a better option at that point cause thats 10 bucks compared to 40-60 to get a new bung welded on. Of course, getting the Megan Racing midpipe/downpipe for like $150 is an even better option.
