the other day my friend was driving my car and noticed a really bad noise.
while driving if u leave it in gear and rev it above 3000 rpm and then let off the gas while still in gear it makes a really loud and bad grinding noise. im not to sure on what it is.
my throwout bearing is bad i know that but i wasnt sure if it would make that noise. i have a new one i just havent been able to install it yet
thanks for the help
the throwout bearing is what pushes out the presure plate. the noise seems to be coming from the transmision. i cant think of what it would be any help would be appreciated.
Here you have a grinding noise and you think it is coming from your tranny and you want to sit here and ask questions to a bunch of people who can't take a look at it for you. If you are stumped get it to a specialist before you hurt the car anymore.
i dont need you being a jerk. and if u must know i have had a tech friend look at it once befre and know that the throwout bearing is bad but he said it would be ok for a little while. plus i dont have the money to take it to a specialist and am going to do all of the repairs myself because i have done things along this line. i just want some insight to see if the throwout bearing could be the cause of this noise.

i wasn't trying to be a jerk. if I was i would not say anything and let you keep messing up your car. rattling or grinding in your engine need to be looked at right away. Anything like that will not be okay for awhile. Now I can't tell you what is wrong with your car because I can't hear it. But no seriously go ahead and keep running it, it will probably be fine
ok, im not stupid and i know that its not good, but again
1) no money to spend
2)no place to fix it at the moment
3)i know what im doing, i have been working on cars for a couple years, (like in a dealership and with profesionals)
i know its not good for my car but i have no choice, im currently working to get the money so i can atleast get the parts,
i just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if they did wha tthe fix. Any HELP, not criticism, would be greatly appreciated.
Ok first you said when your friend was driving the car in your description. I am hoping that you have heard this noise. Now you working on cars so long should be able to have a friend rev your car while in neutral and at least narrow down where this noise is coming from. That could help a lot more.
