well I don't know how much the intake valve is, but I doubt it's $500

the MAF is $500 from the dealer, and I got it for $200 through another shop. It was an OEM Nissan MAF, brand new, exactly like what you would have got through the dealer. So assuming the intake valve accounts for the other $200 from the dealer, you could probably get the pair and install them yourself for $3-400 or so

The MAF your man could probaly replace, but the intake valve will require a skilled pro to replace it properly. is the dealer charging $700 for parts alone or does that cover labor also?

that honestly seems like a fair deal, the valve isnt an expensive part but would be labor intensive to repalce, and the MAF is an exspensive part that is cheap (labor wise) to repalce. Do you know how many Hours of Labor they quoted?

have you had the crank position sensor recall done? I'd get that checked first.

this same situation happend to me down here in FL....i installed a CAI, and all of a sudden a month later my car stalled out at 60mph....i got it towed to goodyear and it ended up costing around 600$ for everything (maf only and labor) the maf costed like 500....so i prolly got ripped off ohhh well....but yea make sure you air filter is on tight....i mean TIGHT....tight to the point where you cant pull it off easily....

whether the filter is tight or not doesn't matter a damn

if the whole assembly can bounce around, you're fuct.
